VALLADOLID VS GIRONA (Preview, Prediction & Betting Tips) / 23.04.2019

Winless in six La Liga (LL) home matches (D3, L3), failing to score in three, Valladolid must turn their fortunes around if they are to secure their top-flight status for another year. However, with the division’s most impotent attack – averaging just 0.85 goals per game – Valladolid have only managed to secure three home victories this term (W3, D5, L8), and all by a narrow one-goal margin.
In contrast, their last three home league defeats saw them fall by at least a two-goal margin, and ‘Albivioletas’ have registered a clean sheet in a measly 18.75% of their LL home games this season. That doesn’t bode well as they come up against fellow relegation-candidates Girona, a team that’s excelled away from home this term (W6, D4, L6).
Yet the visitors are on a run of two consecutive away defeats, but will hope to return to the solid defensive form that has seen them win ‘to nil’ in four of their six LL away victories so far. However, the second half has often posed defensive problems for Girona this season, with 75% of the goals they’ve conceded away from home arriving after the break.
The first goal will likely be critical for the Catalan outfit in this relegation clash – Girona are yet to lose after taking the lead in LL away games this term (W5, D2).
Players to watch: Enes Ünal (VAL) has scored in consecutive LL games, but still has more yellow cards (six) than goals (five). Cristhian Stuani (GIR) has scored 11 of his 18 league goals before half-time.
Stat attack: One third of the goals Valladolid have conceded at home this LL campaign arrived after the 75th minute.
Girona’s last six LL matches have featured three goals or fewer.
Four of the last seven H2Hs ended 2-1 to the home side on the day.
